Age: 20

Appearance: Fray's about 5'7", medium build for her height, some muscle on her. Blue eyes, shoulder length black and pink hair. Black on the top, pink about seven inches from the roots. Ears are pierced twice and her nose is pierced on the left side. Has a two inch scar running from the left side of her upper lip up along her cheek. Wears a lot of slacks, shirts of various sleeve lengths, depending on the weather. Combat boots for the ass-kicking. Has a red tattoo of the biohazard symbol on her upper left arm. Lately, has been wearing a brown leather coat with wool at the collar and cuffs. Not 100% sure how she got it.

Personality: Fray's very open-minded about her opinions and if she's got a problem with you, she'll tell you. Strong-willed and resilient. She'll continue fighting despite the odds. Once she's opened up with someone and trusts them, she'll put her life on the line for them no matter what. Mel is also well-known for being extremely laid-back and will try to get out of something if she deems it unimportant. Occasionally, if she feels she is not up to the task (which is very rarely), Mel will close herself off from everyone, even going as far as not speaking. When she has strong feelings for someone, she'll either tell them straight out or sit back and wait to see if they feel the same, for fear of rejection. Since Fray is a Slayer, the first one in centuries (in her time), she's got enhanced strength and healing powers like the many slayers before her. Quite adept at acrobatics. Damn good speechifier. Also very skilled at stealth and taking objects out of someone's posession (stealing). Whenever her friends or loved ones are upset or hurt, she's there for them in an instant, if not as a single ray of hope. She doesn't necessarily have to say anything, just be there for them. Sometimes, that's enough.

Despite her being a slayer, she is still mortal. If she loses a limb, it's not growing back. If she gets mortally wounded and is not taken care of in the proper time, she will die. Her pride is one of her weaknesses, in that if she's unable to perform some task, she'll risk injuring herself further to get it done, just so her pride remains intact. She's not always open about her feelings, also having to do with her pride. Her friends and loved ones are also a weakness, in that if they're threatened, she'll do something (sometimes stupid) to protect or save them. And just about anything that has to do with her twin is a big, honkin' weakness, given their past.

History: Growing up, Melaka Fray was different from the other kids. She didn't get sick. If she got hurt, she healed sooner than others. While she was on a grab, she'd brought her twin brother along, and the pair had come upon and Lurk (the future's name for vampires, since the world had forgotten about them, due to demons being banished from earth many centuries before). And, in Fray's eyes, the Lurk had killed her brother, biting into her brother's neck as he tossed Fray off the rooftop they were on. Cut to several years in the future and all these strange events begin happening. A man lights himself on fire after telling her she's the "Chosen One".

A large, monster-looking thing comes to her and tells her it's her job to fight the vampires, to which she replies simply, "What's a vampire?" The monster is confused as to why she has no knowledge of her Slayer Heritage, and all is explained, when the client she'd been grabbing ancient artifacts for, turned out to be her brother, who dreamt her slayer dreams, and knew of her heritage but wasn't sure what it meant, was now a Lurk, a vampire, and was planning to bring hell to the world. The crisis was averted, thanks to a small makeshift army of the people in her neighborhood and the police, brought in by her older sister, Erin, a police officer, and mostly by Fray. Her brother, unfortunately, got away leaving Fray and her sister wondering what he was going to do next. After the battle is over, Fray is no longer afraid of her position and she welcomes it gladly.

Little did she know, that 'accepting it gladly' meant all sorts of badness for the slayer. Harth was always three steps ahead and already 'round the corner. Not long into Fray's accepting of her slayer-ness, did Gunther send her on a job that led to her scythe getting grabbed by some crazy, four-armed monkey-thing. Chasing after said four-armed monkey, Mel was led to a building that was formerly a Watcher's headquarters, where there sat a library of Watchers Diaries, all waiting to be read, to teach the newest of slayers of the world she could not dream about, thanks to her twin taking the ancestry, the knowledge of those before her. After several months of continuing to work for Gunther, while trying to juggle being the slayer, Buffy Summers gets dumped into Mel's lap. It's all kinds of tense with the two slayers working together when after quite a bit of running around and spoiler-y madness, the slayers go head to head. Mano a mano. Willow opens a portal from the present and pulls Buffy out and as Mel goes to stop her, afraid that her world will end since Buffy knows what'll happen in the future, but Buffy breaks her scythe, shattering the wooden handle with her forearm.

The world doesn't end with Buffy's return to the future and Erin reassure Mel that it was a good day.
